Friends live
in this portion of a mid-eighteenth century manor house in Dorset,
England. I chose to sketch it through a profusion of garden growth
because that's the atmosphere of the place: quiet, dignified and nestled
in verdant garden at the end of a wooded country
lane.
It was once shielded by elm trees in which rooks nested and cawed
incessantly but Dutch elm disease changed things for ever .
